After leaving Nashville we headed north to Kentucky to visit Mammoth Cave National Park. This is supposed to be the real kick-off to our hiatus adventures. The adventure where we get away from the crowds and experience unique natural places we have never seen. Mammoth Cave was exactly that. Mammoth. It is the world’s longest section of known caves in the world, currently over 400 miles.
Vickie and I rode our bikes 10 miles one-way to get a cave tour from the N.P. Ranger. We took the Cleveland Avenue tour. It was a 2-1/2 hour 2.2 mile underground cave tour through the gypsum formations. We came out from underground to rain showers and a 10 mile bike back to our RV.
Next stop the Smoky Mountains
I’m sure the rain didn’t bother you two!

We are from Minnesota. You don’t have time to wait for “good” weather, you just bring the appropriate gear and it is no problem.
